Gov. Bong Lacson attended yesterday (Jan. 27) the opening of the workshop forum on the Environmental Indicators included in the Environmental Management Governance of the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) evaluation, held at the SMX Convention Center in Bacolod City.
The event was spearheaded by the DILG, in collaboration with the DENR and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) BIOFIN initiative.
The activity specifically aims to increase awareness and understanding of the biodiversity-related indicators included in the Environmental Management governance area of the SGLG and to provide better assistance to LGUs in achieving the requirements of the biodiversity-related indicators of the SGLG.
Since 2019, BIOFIN together with the DENR and the DILG have been working to mainstream biodiversity into local governance through the SGLG and the collaboration has provided significant momentum in aligning governance practices with sustainability goals.
Governor Bong Lacson said that the SGLG is more than an award but a call to action to address one of humanity’s most pressing concerns, which is the preservation of natural resources and biodiversity for future generations.
“This learning event proves our dedication to ensure that Negros Occidental not only sustains its SGLG award but also serves as an inspiration to the local government units in the province,” he said.* #AbanseNegrense
