Provincial officials led by Gov. Bong Lacson, Board Members Juvy Pepello, Agustin Ernesto Bascon, Miguel Alonso, and Jose Benito Alonso; Mayors Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City, Manuel Escalante III of Manapla, Gerry Roxas of Murcia, and Rex Jalandoon of La Carlota City; 303rd Brigade Commander, Colonel Inocencio Pasaporte, and Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, and other guests had a tour of the Negros Museum along Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City, today, as part of the day’s Culture Hub Circuit Tour.The
highlight of the tour was the launching of the book, “Mga Sugilanon sang Negros”, collected and translated by Dr. Ma. Cecilia Locsin-Nava. The books were distributed to guests and turned over to DepEd Negros Occ. Schools Division Superintendent, Marsette Sabbaluca.
Guests were welcomed by the Museum Executive Director, Tanya Lopez and president, Lyn Gamboa.
Gov. Bong Lacson said that the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is always supportive and thankful to the Negros Museum and Negros Cultural Foundation for sharing their expertise and dedication in promoting and preserving the rich history, culture and tradition of the province.
“We, the present day Negrenses, heirs of the richness of our heritage, and aware of its worth and importance, must consciously endeavor to preserve the aspects of our customs and traditions, which make Negros Occidental and its people distinct,” said Gov. Lacson.
He also said that the inclusion of Negros Museum in the Cultural Hub will greatly benefit all Negrenses and guests; and that it is of great importance and value to be reminded of the Negrense resilience, grit and grace in this time of crisis.
