Governor Bong Lacson lauded the graduates of the Integrated Tourist Safety and Security Seminar for TOPCOPS or Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection, and thanked them for their commitment to service and willingness to learn the aspects of policing in relation to tourism.

The governor delivered his message at the closing and graduation ceremony of the TOPCOPS held at Northwest Inn in Bacolod City last May 12, 2023.

The graduates of the training are police officers from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, who belong to the first batch of TOPCOP graduates for the year 2023.

The training was spearheaded by the Department of Tourism Region 6 and Police Regional Office 6.

Present at the activity were Police Brigadier General Archival Macala OIC of the Police Regional Office 6, Artemio Ticar of the Dept. of Tourism 6, and Police Colonel Leo Pamittan, Provincial Director of the Negros Occ. Police Provincial Office, among others.

Gov. Lacson said that the training is a step forward toward responsible tourism, improvement of community safety, and enhancement of the destination image of the province, as there is a wide scope of impacts influencing the safety of tourists.

“Safety has an important position from the point of view of tourism quality,” he added.
