NATIONAL AWARD. The Province of Negros Occidental was named one of the Top 10 winners of the 2021 Galing Pook Awards for NOCWAMA or the Negros Occidental Coastal Wetlands Area Management Alliance, out of the 206 applicants in different LGUs of the country.
Governor Bong Lacson received the award on behalf of the province in a virtual awarding ceremony, this afternoon, together with Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Environment Management Office Head Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, Executive Assistant to the Governor and PIO OIC Charina Magallanes – Tan, and Ma. Elena San Jose of PEMO, among others.
The 2021 Galing Pook Awards is presented by the Galing Pook Foundation, Department of the Interior and Local Government – Local Government Academy, and SM Prime Holdings.
The province’s entry is entitled “Network of Alliances for Coastal Wetlands Conservation”.
Other finalists were Agusan del Sur; Alabat, Quezon; Cagayan de Oro City; Quezon City; San Juan City; Tagum City, Davao del Norte; and Valenzuela City.
