P1.2 M EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE DISTRIBUTED TO SCHOLARS

Governor Bong Lacson led the turn over of educational assistance worth a total of P1,250,000 to 250 scholars of Southland College in Kabankalan City, yesterday (Jan. 5).

The ceremonial distribution was held at the Southland College Trapezium Field, in the presence of the school’s president, Juan Antonio Villaluz; Executive Vice President, Miguel Zayco; Board of Directors Chairman, Annette Villaluz; Vice President for Academics, Dr. Rhoda Amor; and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program head, Karen Dinsay, and parents of the scholars.

The 250 scholars who are all college students, received P5,000 each, facilitated by the Provincial Treasurer’s Office.

Gov. Lacson advised the students to use the educational assistance judiciously and take education seriously.

“May you all advance to be confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to our community, to our society and our nation,” said the governor.

He also said that the provincial government will do its best to make sure that the programs will be responsive to the needs of the Negrense youth.

Board Member Tinto Bascon, chairman of the SP Committee on Education, said that he is always in full support of the programs implemented by Gov. Lacson. He said he knows the governor is really working hard to help Negrenses through the Abanse Negrense and has a good heart especially to the underprivileged students.

The scholars and their parents expressed gratitude to the provincial government and Gov. Lacson for the educational assistance given to them.

Meanwhile, Gov. Lacson also commended the efforts of the Kabankalan City government for the brave and efficient response to the devastation left by Typhoon Odette.
