OFW FAMILY DAY 2021 AT PANAAD
Governor Bong Lacson, together with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) OIC Regional Director Rizza Moldes, led the celebration of OFW Family Day for Negrense OFWs at the Panaad Park in Bacolod City yesterday, December 10, 2021, attended by the members of OFW Federations from the different LGUs of the province.
The activity, dubbed as “Pamaskong Handog” was spearheaded by OWWA Region VI in partnership with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
It aims to strengthen the ties of Negrense OFWs and their families, enjoy Christmas with their loved ones, as well as recognize their valuable contribution in nation building.
Gov. Lacson said that Filipinos are Christmas people and the need to be with family is stronger than that of other cultures, and there’s much to be thankful to God for the opportunity to gather together.
“May this season strengthen our faith and gratitude of the many blessings we had this year. Yes, we have faced difficulties and disappointments, yet we have so much to be thankful for,” said Gov. Lacson.
The governor also thanked OWWA OIC RD Rizza Moldes, Sally Barrios of Negros Occ. OFW Federation, and Executive Assistant to the Governor, Marie June Castro, for their commitment to Negrense OFWs.
Also present in the activity were Provincial Technology and Livelihood Development Center (TLDC) Manager Gerard Tupas, and Engr. Jose Maria Amugod of Special Programs and Concerns Division, among others.
