WATCH. Gov. Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the new scholarship program grantees the province.
Governor Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the new scholarship program grantees of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental for school year 2022 – 2023.
The signing was held at O Hotel in Bacolod City, this morning, and witnessed by Board Member Rita Gatuslao, chairman of the SP Committee on Education, and Negros Occ. Scholarship Program Division Head, Karen Dinsay.
For this school year, a total of 1,190 incoming scholars from the cities and municipalities of the province, were granted scholarships, which includes free tuition (in private schools), and book and uniform allowances.
They underwent series of examinations and interviews before qualifying for the scholarship program.
Gov. Lacson said that the scholarship agreement signing is a big step towards the goal of making education accessible, and to open the doors of possibilities to the less privileged but deserving Negrense students.
“May your scholarship equip you with the necessary training you need to be able to transcend your limitations and be the best you can be,” he said.
He advised the scholars to take their education and training seriously so they can advance to be confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors to the community, society, and nation.
The provincial scholars who graduated with Latin Honors for S.Y. 2021 – 2022 were also recognized, as part of the activity.
Among the scholarship categories managed by the NOSP are District Educational Scholarship, Pagkaon Scholarship, Pagkaon Scholarship – Food Technology, Pagkaon – Degree Completion Scholarship, Indigenous Peoples’ Scholarship (IP), Degree Completion Scholarship, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship – Medicine, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship – Nursing, Provincial Educational Assistance to Capitol Employees – Post Graduate Studies, Provincial Educational Assistance to Capitol Employees – Bachelor’s Degree, Persons With Disabilities Scholarship, and OFW Scholarship.
