The Negros Occidental Universal Health Care Summit was held last November 23, 2022 at The Central Hall, Ayala Malls Capitol Central in Bacolod City with the theme, “Identifying and Bridging Gaps Towards Full Implementation”.
The summit aims to assess and assist the province in the full implementation of universal health care.
Provincial officials led by Governor Bong Lacson, Board Members Sixto Pal Guanzon, Anton Occeño, Araceli Somosa, and Andrew Montelibano, together with District Representatives, Negros Association of Chief Executives (ACE) President and Victorias City Mayor Javi Benitez, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, LGU mayors, Dr. Sophia Pulmones, OIC – Regional Director III of the Department of Health Region VI, and other guests, attended the activity.
Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho, OIC – Usec of the Department of Health was the keynote speaker for the activity; she gave an overview of the Universal Health Care Program.
The UHC aims to ensure that every Filipino is healthy, protected from health hazards and risks, and has access to affordable, quality, and readily available health services, suitable to their needs.It also aims to strengthen primary health care and health facilities in the Philippines.
