Gov. Bong Lacson turned over financial assistance to the farmers of the Municipality of San Enrique, at the Capitol yesterday, to aid them against challenges in agriculture brought about by the worldwide pandemic.
The recipient farmers are beneficiaries of the Financial Subsidy for Rice Farmers (FSRF) Program of the Department of Agriculture in coordination with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental; they received P5,000 each.
The beneficiaries of the program are rice farmers with a rice area of one hectare or less.
There are 25,000 farmer-beneficiaries in the entire province who qualified for the program, with a total allocation of P125 Million.
In San Enrique alone, there are 270 farmer-beneficiaries.
The LandBank of the Philippines also facilitates in the distribution of the said cash assistance.
Also present in the turn over were Engr. Albert Barrogo of DA Region VI, Negros Occ. Provincial Agriculturist, Atty. Japhet Masculino, and San Enrique Municipal Agriculturist, Marilou Peñafiel.
