Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson led the distribution of 215 heads of breeder piglets to the six LGUs in the Fifth District of the province, earlier today.The livelihood project was turned over to livestock breeders and members of the Alliance of Hog Raisers Association of Negros Occidental (AHRANO) as part of the Provincial Animal Genetic Improvement Program under the Provincial Veterinary Office.

The project intends to help secure their income of the local swine breeders to minimize the effect of the present pandemic, as well as augment the livelihood and local employment opportunities within the community.

The activity was held at the Binalbagan Covered Court in the Municipality of Binalbagan.The municipalities of La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Binalbagan, and Hinigaran, and Himamaylan City compose the Fifth District LGUs.Present in the activity were Mayors Raymund Tongson, Jr. of Himamaylan City, Alejandro Mirasol of Binalbagan, Irene Montilla of Isabela, and Jose Nadie Arceo of Hinigaran, and vice mayors Manuel Vera of La Castellana and Adrian Villaflor of Moises Padilla.

The Provincial Veterinary Office headed by Dr. Renante Decena also distributed veterinary drugs, supplies and biologics, and financial assistance to paravets of the District.Gov. Lacson said that the province intends to help more beneficiaries to ensure food security and sustainable development in the province.

The governor also visited the integrated Agri-aqua livestock farm located in Brgy. Enclaro as part of his visit to Binalbagan town.
