Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson led the launching of a 17-hectare Legacy Park within Mandayao Waterfalls located Brgy. Mansalanao, Municipality of La Castellana, today.
The Provincial Environment Management Office spearheaded the activity that adopts the concept of Local Conservation Areas (LCAs) to ensure the sustainable management and utilization of resources.
A Legacy Park is a new model of Public Private Partnership (PPP) in establishing LCAs, partnering with land owners who are willing to allocate portions of their estate for environmental conservation, protection and rehabilitation.
Gov. Lacson lauded land owner, Federico Infante, Jr., for his support to the provincial government’s program on natural resources-related conservation and utilization activities under the Abanse Negrense priority development agenda.
The governor was also joined by La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor- Mangilimutan and Provincial Environmental Management Officer, Atty. Danilo Amisola, among others.
The activity was capped by clean-up and tree-growing activities.
