Negros Occidental Governor Bong Lacson lauded the officers and members of the Negros Economic Development Foundation (NEDF), Inc. as it celebrates its 50th charter anniversary today in a program held at NEDF Multi-Purpose Building in Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod City.

“The existence of NEDF for 50 years is proof of the courage and discernment of its founders and the steadfast dedication of the present Members of the Board, to empower and make hope available to the people of Negros Occidental,” the governor said.

Governor Lacson also said that he is thankful to NEDF for all the help that it has been extending to the province for 50 years. He also appealed for the foundation’s support in the current fight against COVID-19.

Wilhelmina Gonzales, NEDF president said that as they celebrate the foundation’s golden year, they will continue to serve and give light to the poorest of the poor, and continue to hope and believe that one day, a light will shine out of darkness amidst the global pandemic, and that light will shine in the hearts of the people of Negros Occidental.

Over the past decades, NEDF was successful in the implementation of their various projects such as socialized housing, health, integrated agricultural development, networking/linkaging, and entrepreneurship/environmental empowerment.

A tree planting activity and thanksgiving mass were also held prior to the program.
