The newly elected officers of the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) – Negros Occidental took their oaths of office before Governor Bong Lacson at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist in Bacolod City, yesterday (Dec. 10).
The elected officers were Stephen Sta. Ana Santillan, chairman; Dina Genzola, co-chairman; Roseny Villanueva, vice chairman; Bobby Paran, secretary; Herly Tumalaytay, treasurer; Hernani Tingson, auditor; and PIOs: Rhodita Patron (1st District), Alma Elinon (2nd District), Isagani Banista (3rd District); Lucinda Elbanbuena (4th District), Sarah Verdeflor (5th District), and Romeo Aguelles (6th District).
Gov. Lacson thanked the council for their serious efforts to be an effective catalyst for an efficient public-private partnership to develop the agriculture and fisheries sectors.
“Transforming agriculture and food systems is challenging given our manifold challenges including the impact of the pandemic and climate change, however, with the right knowledge and perspectives, as well as strategic partnerships, these objectives are definitely achievable”, said Gov. Lacson.
“I am a believer of consultative leadership, and PAFC’s participatory-based consultation in the formulation of policy and programs is an effective approach to development,” he added.
The council also had a consultative meeting after the induction of officers.
The governor also assured them of the Provincial Government’s support in their advocacy to improve the lives of Negrense farmers and fisherfolks.
