Governor Bong Lacson signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the University of St. La Salle College of Law, represented by its Dean, Atty. Rosanne Gonzaga, for an Externship Program for law student practitioners.
As stated in the MOA, the USLS College of Law instituted as part of its curriculum a Clinical Legal Education Program mandated by Rule 138 or the Revised Law Student Practice Rule with the objectives of providing law students with practical knowledge skills and values necessary for the application of the law, delivery of legal services, and promotion of social justice and public interest.
The Provincial Government has agreed to provide support to law student practitioners by engaging them in legal work, especially for the marginalized sectors or the promotion of social justice and public interest.
The MOA Signing was held at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol, yesterday afternoon in the presence of Provincial Legal Officer Alberto Nellas, Jr., Executive Assistant to the Governor and PIO Charina Magallanes – Tan, Provincial Environment Management Office Head, Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, PPP Focal Person Atty. Jessa Genteroles, and USLS College of Law Student Practitioners, April Therese Escarda, Jiea Therese Sian, and Gian Angelo Gerangaya, among others.
