WATCH. Provincial Opening of 2023 National Women’s Month held in Cadiz City today.
Governor Bong Lacson led the Provincial Opening of 2023 National Women’s Month held in Cadiz City on March 1, 2023 in collaboration with Provincial Council for Women (PCW) and Cadiz LGU, and Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.
The celebration highlighted the Negrense women’s achievements and discussed continuing and emerging women empowerment and gender equality issues, concerns, and challenges.
Also joining the activity were Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr. and other local officials, Executive Assistant to the Governor and Provincial GAD Focal Point System Action Officer, Marie June Castro, PCW members and officers led by its president, Atty. Andrea Lizares – Si.
Gov. Lacson said that he’s been a supporter and advocate of the women’s movement long before he became the governor and has been actively involved with the PCW which allowed him to see and understand the movement in a deeper perspective.
He assured that the Provincial Administration will continue to create and uphold programs and policies about good practices and measures in the pursuit of gender and development, to strengthen the Magna Carta of Women.
The governor reiterated his utmost respect and admiration for Negrense women, and said he is looking forward to innovation and education in the digital age to achieve gender equality and empowerment of all women.
Gov. Lacson thanked all participants who came from the different cities and municipalities of the province, and Mayor Escalante for hosting the day’s activity.
The Women’s Month celebration kicked off and launched the new recurring theme from this year to 2028, “WE for gender equality and inclusive society”.
