Negros Occidental Gov. Bong Lacson, together with other LGU awardees received the Gawad KALASAG Seal of Excellence 2023 Award (Fully Compliant LGUs) during the Orientation on Gawad KALASAG for the Province of Negros Occidental, held at Negros Residences in Bacolod City, this morning.

The activity was spearheaded by the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The LGU awardees, as adjudged by the NDRRMC, generally adhere to the standards for the establishment and functionality of the CDRRMOs as prescribed in the PDRRMC Act of 2010.

Office of the Civil Defense VI Regional Director Raul Fernandez was represented by OCD VI DRRM Division Chief Ma. Aletha Nogra.

Gov. Lacson said that the award is an affirmation that the LGUs are on the right track and at the same time a continuous call to action for the betterment of the LGUs’ disaster response and resilience.

“By remaining committed to staying informed and adhering to science-based systems, technological tools, and opportunities, we can effectively address disaster risk reduction, including the protection and safety of our responders,” he said.
