ELDERLY FILIPINO WEEK

The Province of Negros Occidental joins the nation in celebrating the Elderly Filipino Week to honor and appreciate the invaluable contributions of senior citizens to community development and to inspire future generations.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office initiated the “Walk for Life” activity held at the Capitol Park and Lagoon this morning, attended by senior citizen representatives from the 32 LGUs of the province.

The Provincial Government turned over wheelchairs and facilitated flu and pneumonia vaccinations, and medical consultations through the Provincial Health Office.

Gov. Bong Lacson lauded the joint efforts of the PSWDO, Federations of Senior Citizens, and other partners, for organizing a series of activities for the elderly.

The governor said that the provincial government will continue to work tirelessly to advance programs that protect the rights, improve the quality of life, and promote the active participation of senior citizens in the community.

“We deeply value your wisdom, strength, and the legacy you continue to build. Your role in nation-building is indispensable, and it is only fitting that we ensure that you are supported and cared for,” he said.

This year’s Elderly Filipino Week is themed, “Senior Citizens: Building the Nation, Inspiring Generations”.
