Negros Occidental Gov. Bong Lacson expressed his full support at the ceremonial signing of the Deed of Donation of the historic Gen. Aniceto Lacson Ancestral House in Talisay City, being donated to the National Museum of the Philippines by descendants of Gen. Lacson for full restoration.
The signing was held at Nature’s Village Resort yesterday (Nov. 5) coinciding with the 126th Cinco de Noviembre or Negros Day celebration.
The ancestral house will be preserved as an ancestral house museum and landmark of the history and cultural heritage of Negros.
Built-in 1880, it served as the seat of the Cantonal Republic of Negros that was established after the Spaniards surrendered to Negrense forces led by revolutionary leaders Gen. Aniceto Lacson Lacson and Gen. Juan Araneta.
“On behalf of the Provincial Government and the people of Negros Occidental, I extend our deepest gratitude to the heirs of Gen. Aniceto Lacson for their donation. By entrusting this treasured ancestral home to the National Museum, you have taken a remarkable step to preserve our shared heritage, ensuring that future generations can connect with the spirit of courage and patriotism that defines our identity,” said Gov. Lacson.
The governor also thanked individuals and groups who have worked tirelessly to make the event possible—the historians, researchers, local authorities, the City Government of Talisay, community members, and all the families and heirs who have contributed to the success of the activity.
He also thanked the National Museum of the Philippines for embracing the General Aniceto Lacson Ancestral House as part of the country’s historical landmark and heritage structure, which will ensure that the legacy of local heroes, along with the stories and values they embody, will be shared with generations to come.
“Your commitment to honoring General Lacson’s legacy strengthens our pride and unity as Negrenses. Thank you for this lasting gift to our province and our nation,” he added.*
