CROP INSURANCE BENEFITS DISTRIBUTED TO CALATRAVA FARMERS,
Governor Bong Lacson led the distribution of crop insurance benefits worth a total of P1.3 Million to 413 Calatrava farmers enrolled under the Provincial Government’s Agri-Fishery Program, Thursday (Feb. 3).
First District Board Member Araceli Somosa and Rommel Debulgado, Calatrava Mayor Marilyn Era and other local officials were also present at the activity.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist led by OIC Dr. Dina Genzola, facilitated the distribution of the checks to the beneficiaries.
The Agri-Fishery Insurance Program is a joint initiative between the Province of Negros Occidental and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), which aims to protect and insure agricultural crops of Negrense farmers.
Farmers enrolled under this program are entitled to financial claims for crop damages brought about by natural calamities and pests infestation aggravated by climate change.
Aside from the insurance claims, the farmers also received high value crops seeds.
