The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the Provincial Voluntary Blood Services Program celebrated today the National Blood Donors’ Month and Blood Olympics 2022 with the theme, “Mag Dugoyanihan, sumagip ng buhay. Maging bayaning totoo, magbigay ng dugo”.

The activity started with a motorcade along the major streets of Bacolod City, followed by a short program, mass blood donation activity, and Blood Olympics Awarding Ceremony held at Negros Residences, in Bacolod City.

Health officers and representatives from the different LGUs of Negros Occidental, non-government organizations and chief of hospitals attended the activity.

Gov. Bong Lacson said that to prevent a significant draw down of the blood supply, a well-organized blood service is necessary to meet blood necessities especially in times of crisis.

He lauded the blood service facilities and stakeholders, the Negros First Provincial Blood Center, CLMMRH, Philippine National Red Cross – Negros Occidental Chapter, Provincial Health Office, Bacolod City Health Office, and Negros Occ. LGUs for their contribution and effort in the blood donation campaign.

“Engaging blood donors remains to be our lifeline to be able to provide for those in dire need of blood,” he said.

The Top Performing LGUs, NGOs, and Hospitals who excel in blood donation activities were awarded during the program.

Also present were Board Member Araceli Somosa, chairman of the SP Committee on Health, Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang, Hospital Operations Department Head, Dr. Girlie Pinongan, Teresita Jalandoni Provicnial Hospital Chief, Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, and Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital Chief, Dr. Julius Drilon, among others.
