WATCH. Distribution of breeder piglets and gilt pigs to Sixth District LGUs of the province, as part of the Provincial Animal Genetic Improvement Program, visit to Kabankalan City’s poultry and livestock farm, and awarding of certificates to Drug-Cleared Barangays.
As part of the Provincial Animal Genetic Improvement Program (PAGIP) a total of 192 breeder piglets and 77 pig gilts were distributed to LGUs in the Fifth and Sixth District of the province, yesterday (Sept. 14).
Governor Bong Lacson led the ceremonial distribution of breeder piglets to the livestock breeders of Himamaylan City, Binalbagan, La Castellana, Hinigaran, Isabela, and Moises Padilla in the Fifth District, and the cities of Kabankalan, Sipalay, and towns of Candoni, Cauayan, Ilog, and Hinoba-an in the Sixth District.
The activities were held at the Kabankalan City Hall grounds and at Hinigaran Gym, respectively, spearheaded by the Provincial Veterinary Office led by Dr. Renante Decena.
The turn over ceremonies was also witnessed by the local officials namely, Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. and Vice Mayor Raul Rivera, Mayor Ernesto Estrao of Hinobaan, Cauayan Mayor, John Rey Tabujara and Vice Mayor Anna Liza Soriano, Fifth District Board Member Agustin Ernesto Bascon, Mayors Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City, Alejandro Mirasol of Binalbagan, Jose Nadie Arceo of Hinigaran, Rhumylla Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana, Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo of Moises Padilla, among others.
Members of the Alliance of Hog Raisers Association of Negros Occidental (AHRANO) were also present at the activity.
The turn over of breeder piglets is part of the provincial government’s livelihood program assistance, that has been implemented continuously in all districts of the province.
It aims to ensure food security, sustainable development, and local employment in the province anchored on the Abanse Negrense Priority Development Agenda.
Gov. Lacson said he hopes the project will continue to be sustainable so that more animal breeders can benefit with the program.
He also said that the livelihood project is a big help to the breeders especially in the midst of the present pandemic; he also thanked them for their contribution in ensuring food security in the province.
