WATCH: Blessing and turning-over of Orong Solar-Powered Water System
Governor Bong Lacson led the turn over ceremony of the Solar-powered Water System in Brgy. Orong, Kabankalan City, yesterday (Feb. 16) together with Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. and Vice Mayor Raul Rivera, and former Sixth District representative, Atty. Mercedes Alvarez.
The project that costs P8 Million was funded by the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, and will benefit nearly 300 households in the nearby puroks.
The barangay health center, barangay hall, daycare center and elementary school will also benefit from the project.
Gov. Bong Lacson said that the challenge of maintaining the water system lies on the management of the local officials and the cooperation of the community.
He also said that he hopes everybody will cooperate to make the project sustainable.
Mayor Zayco said that he is grateful for the cooperation and unity of the different stakeholders for the realization of the project.
Orong Brgy. Capt. Gerardo Gonzaga said that he is thankful for the new development in their barangay because access to safe and potable water is a big help to their community.
Also present in the activity were Negros Occ. Provincial Engineer, Engr. Ernie Mapa and CPSU President Dr. Aladdino Moraca, and Kabankalan City Police Chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel Mary Rose Salve Pico, among others.*
