Governor Bong Lacson welcomed all delegates of the 2022 Women’s and Gender Studies Association of the Philippines (WSAP) Annual National Conference at Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City last November 23, 2022.

WSAP is a professional association of individuals and institutions that promote women’s and gender studies, involving practitioners and advocates from colleges and universities.

It aims to introduce and strengthen women’s and gender studies in Philippine education, promote gender equality and women empowerment, and conduct training, and develop curriculum and instructional resources.

Gov. Lacson presented the implemented programs and ongoing initiatives of the provincial government related to women’s empowerment and gender equality, in partnership with various associations.

“As for the Province of Negros Occidental, we shall continue to create and uphold programs and policies with regard to good practices and measures in the pursuance of gender and development, to strengthen the Magna Carta of Women,” he said.

According to the governor, the province will have an impact assessment of projects for the coming years and will have more studies on women’s situations and issues, and he is looking forward to collaborating with WSAP local members.

Sen. Risa Hontiveros also sent a video message expressing her support for the activity.

Also present at the activity were WSAP President Dr. Excelsea Tongson, WSAP Vice President, Pilipinas Ma. Dechavez – Jareño, former representative from Bukidnon Province, Maria Lourdes Acosta Alba, Executive Assistant to the Governor and GAD Focal Point System Action Officer, Marie June Castro, and representatives from the state colleges and universities in the province, among others.
