A total of 173 public school teachers who are scholarship grantees of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental’s Project Flagship to Reach Educational Excellence (Project FREE) received their Doctorate degree and Master’s degree during the Project FREE Paglaum Graduation Rites at the University St. La Salle Coliseum, Bacolod City, yesterday.
The scholar-grantees are part of Project FREE Batch 3 and out of the 173 graduates, 21 received their Doctorate degree of Philosophy in Educational Leadership and 152 obtained their Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling, Education major in Natural Science, Mathematics, Reading, Language and Literature, Filipino, Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health, Social Studies, Special Education, Technology and Home Economics, and Early Childhood, from the University of St. La Salle (USLS).
Russel Gorre and Romelyn Carcueva were recognized for achieving Highest Academic Honors while Vladimir Katalbas earned High Academic Honors.
For special awards, the Best Dissertation went to Ike Dominic Jalwin and Best Thesis was awarded to Gemmalyn Acsioma.
Gov. Bong Lacson, as the project grantor, congratulated the 173 scholars and said that this landmark initiative, in partnership with USLS and the Department of Education (DepEd), reflects the shared commitment to uplifting the educational landscape of the province.
DepEd Undersecretary Atty. Peter Irving Corvera, as the commencement speaker, congratulated the scholars and lauded the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental under the leadership of Gov. Bong Lacson for the unique program that supports public school teachers.

Erwin Anthony Climaco, FSC, Mark Palo and Most Rev. Patricio Buzon, SDB, DD and NOSPD Head Karen Dinsay together with the family of the scholars attended the ceremony.
