Irrigators associations and farmers from various cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental attended the IA Congress and Farmers Forum for the Bago River Irrigation System and Communal Irrigation System, held today at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Coliseum & Cultural Center in Bago City.

The event, spearheaded by the National Irrigation Administration Regional Office 6 and the Negros Occidental Irrigation Management Office, aimed to establish a unified approach to addressing challenges in the agricultural sector, ensuring food security, and promoting the well-being of farmers and their communities.

Outstanding Irrigators Associations (IAs) were also recognized during the activity.

Gov. Bong Lacson commended Negrense farmers for their continued productivity and resilience despite the challenges posed by El NiƱo last year.

He emphasized that irrigation systems are lifelines for Negrense farmers, sustaining food security, fostering sustainable growth, and serving as investments for future generations.

The governor also encouraged farmers and relevant government agencies to continue exploring new technologies and adopting climate-resilient irrigation systems.*
