Gov. Bong Lacson lauded the 46 Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP) grantees for passing their respective licensure examinations that include nine nurses, 35 midwives and two pharmacists.

In his speech, he congratulated the parents of the scholars for the achievements of their children.

He said that he is very happy to witness the fulfillment of the scholars’ dream and their parents, a testament to their hard work and determination.

He is especially elated to know that one of the scholars, Mary Catherine Nakar, a grantee of the Degree Completion Scholarship, whose parents struggled with their finances, got the Top 8 spot in the overall results of the Nursing Licensure Examinations. Nakar also graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

The passers are grantees of PEACE- Bachelor’s Degree, Children of Non-Returning OFWs, Degree Completion Scholarship, and DCS-OFW.

Present during the activity were NOSP Head Karen Dinsay, NOSP staff Thea Marie Palacio, Cheynne Noreen Evaristo, and Ma. Lerrie Majaducon, Executive Assistant to the Governor Marie June Castro, Milina Jeruta of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and Sally Barrios of the OFWs Negros Occidental Federation, Inc. (ONOFI).*
