The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) released a total of P1,142,400 or P9,600 each to 120 ABANSE Trabahante beneficiaries from 20 towns and cities of the province, yesterday at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, Bacolod City.

The beneficiaries composed of six TechVoc graduates, Indigenous Peoples, Persons with Disability, Displaced or Disadvantaged individuals are from the cities of Bago, Escalante, Kabankalan, La Carlota, San Carlos, Sipalay, Talisay and Victorias as well as from the towns of Cauayan, Don Salvador Benedicto, Hinigaran, Ilog, Isabela, Hinobaan, San Enrique, Toboso, Valladolid, Binalbagan, Candoni and Pontevedra; they were given 20 days to work in their respective LGUs for temporary employment.

Simultaneous with the payout, the beneficiaries were oriented on Workplace Safe Spaces and Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act with PCapt. Wilma Silva and Dawn Marie Castro as speaker and lecturer.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Negros Occidental Field Office head, Carmela Abellar lauded the efforts of the Provincial Government for conducting the activity especially the provision of temporary employment to LGUs.

Gov. Bong Lacson, in his speech, said that he will continue the ABANSE Trabahante program as component of Employment Support Strategies for Negrenses because this provides temporary employment to the marginalized sector.

Present during the activity were Ronnie Pineda of DOLE, Executive Assistant to the Governor Marie June Castro, ONOFI president Sally Barrios, Milina Jeruta of NCIP, TLDC Negros Occidental Head Liberty Alarcon, LGU PESO managers, and NOSP scholars who recently passed the board exams.*
