The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office of the British Embassy Manila (UK FCDO) to strengthen collaboration related to sustainable development and working on climate change resilience programs and projects.
Negros Occidental Gov. Bong Lacson and British Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils, representative of the UK FCDO, signed the MOU at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol, recently.
UK FCDO is a subsidiary organ and developmental agency of the Government of the United Kingdom, which works with partners in numerous countries to promote sustainable development, adaptation and resilience to climate change, good governance, and the rule of law.
The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has expressed interest in enhancing its development activities in mobilizing public and private capital for adaptation and resilience projects, to ensure that adaptation and resilience programs and projects amidst climate change are mainstreamed in the Province of Negros Occidental.
The MOU provides a framework for non-exclusive cooperation and facilitates and strengthens collaboration between the parties in the areas of common interest such as food and water systems sustainable natural resources, and other high-impact adaptation investments in the province.
Also present at the ceremonial signing were Provincial Environment Management Office Head, Atty. Julie Ann Bedrio, and OIC Provincial Agriculturist Dr. Dina Genzola, among others.*
