The town of Murcia will soon have its Municipal Abattoir/Slaughterhouse Project in Brgy. Alegria.

Governor Bong Lacson led today’s groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a P50-Municipal Slaughterhouse Project in Brgy. Alegria, together with Mayor Gerry Rojas, Vice Mayor Johnny Reosura, and other local officials, Provincial Engineer Ernie Mapa, and representatives from the Department of Agriculture, and PRDP personnel.

The said project is one of the Department of Agriculture-led Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) in Negros Occidental, co-funded by the World Bank, the National Government, and the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

The project aims to produce hygienically prepared meat through proper and clean handling of livestock animals, with the use of sanitary techniques for slaughtering and dressing.

The slaughterhouse project is targeted to be completed in April next year.*
