The Department of Civil Defense VI in collaboration with the Negros Occ. Provincial Disaster Management Program Division is conducting a three-day Basic Incident Command System (ICS) Training for the Province of Negros Occidental that started on Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

The training, held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, is participated in by DRRM officers from the different LGUs of the province, chiefs of hospitals, and Incident Management Team members of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental.

The training aims to equip participants with ICS knowledge and application, improve coordination efforts towards stabilizing emergencies, and strengthen disaster response and climate change adaptation to save lives and properties.

Governor Bong Lacson welcomed all participants to the training and said that the Provincial Government is committed to keeping abreast and adhering to science–based systems, technological tools, and opportunities to effectively address disaster risk reduction, and protect and minimize the risk to responders.

The training covers discussions and workshops on ICS Organization and Staffing, ICS Facilities, Organizing ICS and Managing Incidents and Events, Incident Assessment and Management by Objectives, Organizing and Managing Resources, Incident and Event Planning, and Transfer of Command and Demobilization.

The facilitators and speakers of the training are ICS Cadre Ranulfo Demiar; Ma. Jemaimah Ann Isubal of OCD; Bago City DRRMO Operations and Warning Head, Ryan Valero; and Guimaras Provincial Engineer, Ramil Villasis.
