Governor Bong Lacson attended the opening program of the 25th Paralympiada held at Cadiz City on January 27, 2023.
The sports activity, spearheaded by the City Government of Cadiz and DepEd Cadiz Division, is participated in by student-athletes from Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental.
Present in the opening program were Third District Rep. Thirdy Marañon, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Jr., Vice Mayor Lilia Decolongon and SP Members, DepEd Cadiz Schools Division Superintendent Arlene Bermejo, and P3PWD Partylist Representative Rowena Guanzon, among others.
Gov. Lacson said that the Paralympiada is another step forward for humanity in breaking down social barriers of discrimination for persons with impairment.
“Today, we also celebrate our paralympic athletes’ determination, inspiration, and courage,” he said.
“You can count on your provincial government to support all efforts that encourage and promote your participation in all activities, including sports,” he added.
The activity is also part of the city’s celebration of Dinagsa Festival 2023.
