Governor Bong Lacson led the celebration of the Women’s Month at the Provincial Capitol, today, with the theme, “We Make Change Work for Women”, which brings focus to the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development.

A dance and fitness activity at the Lagoon Park kicked off the month-long celebration and was followed by a medical service conducted by the Provincial Health Office.

Today’s celebration aims to give due recognition to the contribution of Negrense women to society and to further inspire the promotion of gender equality and women empowerment.

A program was held at the Capitol Social Hall attended by Board Members Ryan Gamboa and Pal Guanzon, Executive Assistant to the Governor, Marie June Castro, Capitol employees, and members of the Provincial Council for Women, among others.

The ladies present were surprised and delighted to receive flowers from the governor and the board members.

Governor Lacson declared, “I am not here to empower you because you are already powerful, I am here today to remind you, in case some of you forgot, that you are capable of anything.”

“Always bear in mind that in this part of the world and on my watch, the Negrense women will always have a fighting chance,” he added.

Also during the program, a Gender and Development (GAD) Agenda Strategic Framework and Issues were presented by Negros Occ. Language and IT Center (NOLITC) Administrator Dr. Cristina Orbecido and her team, while Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Atty. Anabelle Palic presented the statistics pertaining to the Capitol women employees.*Capitol News
