Governor Bong Lacson attended the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty Program (EPAHP) Provincial Convergence Team Meeting held at Lfisher Hotel Bacolod City, this morning.
Joining the meeting were representatives from the LGUs of Moises Padilla, Murcia, and Bago City, and participating national government agencies.
“This collaborative effort of the government agencies to increase farm productivity and income, ensure food and nutrition security, and mitigate hunger and malnutrition, is the more responsive and strategic measure if we are to genuinely eradicate hunger and poverty in both urban and rural areas,” said Gov. Lacson.
EPAHP Program’s primary goal is to mitigate hunger, ensure food security and nutrition, and reduce poverty incidence in communities, particularly in the marginalized, isolated and disadvantaged areas.
Gov. Lacson also said that the engagement of the rural communities to enhance social capital and optimize the resource base; the provisions for institutional feeding programs; food production programs and essential support services; enhancement of farm production technologies; adoption of Community Participation Procurement; and the construction, repair and improvement of irrigation facilities, will better equip the country to pursue the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and the Philippine Development Plan for poverty reduction and inclusive growth.
The governor thanked all the partner agencies of the program for their committed efforts, as the team finds more ways to advance the purposes of EPAHP.
