WATCH. 7 NEGRENSE SCHOLARS IN JAPAN RECEIVE EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANCE

Seven scholars who recently graduated at Miyakonojo Higashi High School in Japan received educational assistance from the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, amounting to P996,000.00, yesterday (March 2).

Provincial Administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, led the turn over of the educational assistance to the parents of the scholars at the HOD Conference Hall of the Provincial Capitol.

Trishia Marie Lucio and Faustinne Mar Bulanon were given Php218,000.00 each while Lorraine Tudillo, Curly Joyce Palacios, Reneleen Apatan, Mark Doriman and Helena Gasataya were given Php112,000.00 each.

The educational assistance will be used to cover their other expenses like admission, entrance, registration and visa fees as well as the initial deposit to their boarding houses.

Lucio will study at the Asia Pacific University in Oita and will take up Asia Pacific Studies, Bulanon will enroll at Tsuru University and will take up English Literature while Tudillo, Palacios, Apatan, Doriman and Gasataya will enter Houshin School of Healthcare in Miyakonojo City and will take up two-year Vocational Careworker course.

These students will be working part time in Japan to support themselves.

The Miyakonojo Higashi Scholarship Program is one of the scholarship categories supervised by the Negros Occ. Scholarship Program Division.

The parents expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Gov. Bong Lacson for the scholarship granted to their children and for the educational assistance that will surely help them start their journey as college students in Japan.

A video presentation of the graduation and the scholars expression of gratitude in both English and Japanese was shown during the turnover ceremony.

Atty. Diaz said that he was personally impressed and take pride at how the scholars performed in Japan, especially in adapting to the Japanese language and culture.

He assured the parents of the scholars that they are all in good hands with the great partnership of the provincial government and Miyakonojo Higashi High School, and that Gov. Bong Lacson is giving 100 percent support to the scholarship program.

He also said that the scholars have a promising future after graduation, and imagination is the limit as to how bright their future will be.

He added that he is hoping the Provincial Government will be able to send more scholars to study in Japan to give them access to international education and open more job opportunities to the Negrense youth.

In his closing statement, Atty. Diaz related how the Provincial Government is teaching the students to fish as he shared the famous Chinese proverb that says ‘Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime’.
