WATCH. HIMAMAYLAN FARMERS GET AGRI-FISHERY INSURANCE BENEFITS
A total of P525,144 worth of insurance benefits were released to 174 Himamaylan City farmers enrolled in the Agri-Fishery Insurance Program of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, today.
The turn over of benefits was led by Gov. Bong Lacson at the Talaban Covered Court in the presence of Vice Mayor Justin Gatuslao, Dr. Edmundo Raul Causing of the head of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Supervising Agriculturist Dr. Dina Genzola, City Agriculturist Sandra Vargas, and Ariel Batuigas of the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), among others.
The provincial government’s crop insurance is a joint initiative between the Provincial of Negros Occidental and PCIC to insure agricultural crops in the province.
The province regularly provides funds in the crop insurance program to address the gaps in the agriculture sector and to adapt to the climate change that have been adversely affecting the crop production and threatens the state of food security in the province.
Gov. Lacson said that the improvement of the lives of Negrense farmers through the development of their industry can greatly help in the reduction of poverty.
“Kun maga-uswag ang teknolohiya para sa local nga produkto, maga-uswag man ang kabuhi sang mga mangunguma upod ang tagsa nila ka pamilya,” said the governor.
