CAPITOL HOLDS INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY
Governor Bong Lacson led the celebration of the International Migrants Day at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, this morning, with the theme, “Harnessing the Potential of Human Mobility”.
The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Committee on Migration and Development.
Present in the activity were OWWA OIC Regional Director Rizza Joy Moldes, Marie June Castro, Executive Assistant to the Governor, Ellene Sana, Executive Director of the Center for Migrant Advocacy, and Salvacion Barrios, president of OFW Negros Occ. Federation, Inc., among others.
Gov. Lacson said that the ongoing pandemic has been particularly difficult for migrant workers all over the world, thus, the call is not just for global solidarity in handling the difficulties and complications faced by migrants workers, but also for the much-needed reforms anchored on the new normal.
He assured that the provincial government will always assist the Negrense migrant workers, in the face of the challenges abroad and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
