PROVINCIAL CHILDREN’S MONTH KICKS OFF
The Provincial (National) Children’s Month kicked off yesterday in a program held at the Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, with the theme, “New Normal na Walang Iwanan: Karapatan ng Bawat Bata Ating Tutukan”.
The activity aims to intensify public awareness on children’s rights, promote adequate care for children, and advocate for the application of positive discipline in daily dealings with children.
Governor Lacson cited the various programs, projects and activities of the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children for the year 2021 that include the capacity enhancement to of health providers managing sick children, strengthening adolescent health services, support to non-government organizations that takes care of abandoned children, feeding programs, and support to early childhood development, among others.
Moreover, the governor said, “The task of ensuring that the rights of every child are upheld and protected is not an option but a solemn responsibility of the home, the government, and the entire society.”
Present in the activity were Board Members Rita Gatuslao and Juvy Pepello, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office OIC Mere Garcia, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Dr. Ma. Lina Sanogal, Hospital Operations Department Head, Dr. Girlie Pinongan, and child representative, Jules Carlo Gico, among others.
