WATCH. NEGRENSE FARMERS RECEIVE LOAN ASSISTANCE

A total of 218 farmer-recipients from Victorias City, received loan assistance worth P5,450,000 Million under the Expanded Sure Aid and Recovery Project of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA).

Governor Bong Lacson led the ceremonial turn over of the financial assistance held at the Victorias Cultural Center in Victorias City, this afternoon.

This project aims to finance the emergency and production capital requirements of marginalized small farmers and fisherfolk, whose production income were affected by flash floods, thereby, helping them regain capacity to continue their agricultural activities and contribute to sustained food production.

Eligible borrowers are marginalized small farmers and fisherfolk listed under damage report submitted due to flash flood, and those enrolled in Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture to avail of a non-collateralized loan of P25.000 per household at a zero-percent interest rate payable in ten years.

It is a collaborative project of the provincial government implemented through the OPA, and the Dept. of Agriculture.

The farmer-beneficiaries from the cities of Talisay, Silay, Cadiz and E.B. Magalona town have received the same loan assistance, facilitated by the OPA earlier today and last week worth a total of P14,550,000 Million for 582 farmers.

Gov. Lacson acknowledged the importance of farmers and fisherfolks as major contributors to the food security of the province.

He said that aside from the present pandemic, the agriculture sector is also affected by other factors such as flash floods, thus, the Expanded Sure Aid and Recovery Project was conceptualized to aid the farmers.

Present in the activity were Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, OPA OIC Dr. Dina Genzola, Jane Aplaon of DA, and Victorias City Agriculturist Dr. Samson Garzon, Jr., among others.
