Gov. Lacson Installed as Boy Scouts Council Honorary Chairman

Governor Bong Lacson was installed as Honorary Chairman of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Negros Occidental Council during the 67th Annual Council Meeting in Victorias City, today.

The activity was held at the Don Alejandro Acuna Yap Quina Arts and Cultural Center, and attended by BSP council officers and commissioners, delegates from the towns and cities of the province, and other guests.

Together with the governor, Third District Representative, Kiko Benitez, was also installed as BSP Council Honorary Member during the program.

Present at the activity were Regional Scout Director Michael Indoma, Negros Occ. Schools Division Superintendent Marsette Sabbaluca, Victorias City Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca, Victorias I Public Schools District Supervisor (PSDS), Angeles Verdeprado, Victorias II PSDS Teresa Asidoy, and TTM Elmer Cabiles, among others.

Gov. Lacson said that as a father of the province and BSP Honorary Chairman, one of the most judicious things he can do is to make certain that the younger generation will be made more capable, more knowledgeable, and more empowered.

“For so many years, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines have served our nation with the scout’s laudable brand of service. Today, our challenges may be different from that of the past, but I’m confident that the scouts will always uphold the lessons, skills and values they have acquired through scouting in all and every situation,” he said.

The governor also emphasized that over the years, the Boy Scouts have been at the forefront – supporting, advocating, and adapting to the concerns of the time, and that he is thankful that youth empowerment is in the core of the boy scouts ideology.

The Eagle Scouts of Victorias City hosted the event.
