WATCH: ASF Information Caravan Take Off Ceremony
The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) has stepped up its campaign against the entry of African Swine Fever (ASF) in the province though an information caravan with Iloilo-Bacolod Association of Veterinary Sales Representatives – IBAVS as partner.
The PVO led by Dr. Renante Decena and IBAVS led by its president, Maria Fe Sy, launched a three-day information caravan, yesterday, that targets to do a massive information campaign about ASF to all cities and municipalities of the province.
The caravan aims to strengthen the swine industry stakeholders’ awareness about ASF, and to educate the public, particularly the hog raisers, about the effects of ASF.
Governor Bong Lacson thanked IBAVS for their support to the advocacies of the province, as ASF continues to be a threat to the swine industry.
He also thanked IBAVS for donating a power sprayer, disinfectant and other ASF paraphernalia for use of the Provincial ASF Task Force and other hog raisers.
PVO Report shows that last year, a total of 32.65 metric tons of assorted pork products with a total market value of P5.57 Million were apprehended by the ASF Team in ports, airport and check points.
