Governor Bong Lacson led the distribution of a total of P630,000 to the recipients of the Provincial Government’s medical and shelter assistance, social pensions, and centenarian awardees in the Municipality of Candoni.

The activity was held at Barangay West Covered Court on February 11, 2021 in time with the town’s fiesta celebration.

A total of 50 residents received shelter assistance worth P5,000 each; 50 senior citizens received social pension worth P3,000 each; ten beneficiaries of medical assistance received P3,000 each; and two Centenarians namely, Victoria Lazarte and Presentacion Lambot (posthumous award) received P100,000 each.

The beneficiaries of the shelter assistance are those informal settlers affected by municipal project constructions and road widening projects.

Present in the activity were Sixth District Board Member Jeffrey Tubola, Candoni Mayor Cicero Borromeo and Vice Mayor Loriemae Gargar, and other local officials. Gov. Lacson advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the cash assistance given to them and prioritize their needs.

He also lauded the town for maintaining zero case of COVID-19 for the past months.

Board Member Tubola also urged all Candonians to help each other, especially in the midst of the pandemic.

The Provincial Government’s program on emergency shelter assistance, medical assistance, social pension, and awarding of centenarians are facilitated by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Merle Garcia.

Strict health and safety protocols were observed at the activity.*
