Governor Bong Lacson met with Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Dept. of Tourism (DOT) today, and attended the Tourism Stakeholders Meeting organized by the DOT, held at the Seda Capitol Central in Bacolod.
They discussed about the status of tourism in the province, the public health situation and areas of collaboration between the DOT, the provincial government, and private stakeholders.
The meeting is part of Sec. Romulo-Puyat’s three-day visit to the province. She is also set to turn over financial assistance to displaced tourism workforce, and visit various tourism sites.
Gov. Lacson said that the stakeholders’ meeting signifies the provincial government’s resolve to gain ground in the recovery efforts for the tourism industry.
“Our province is favored to have no less than the Secretary of Tourism to help, guide and support our efforts to alleviate, revive and reanimate the very promising tourism industry not just for the province, but that of the entire Western Visayas,” he said.
